Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In-N-Out Burger in Baldwin Park in 1948, with a two-way speaker box that let drivers order without leaving their cars. The chain still has offices and a training center in the city, and a replica of the original ten-foot-square stand sits beside the freeway near where it began.
